The Grand Canyon is one of the top bucket list destinations in the world, and there are some helpful things to know before your next trip.

  1. Expect crowds and traffic. Being one of the top destinations to visit in the United States comes with the added fun of many tourists filling the area.

  2. Research your weather conditions ahead of time. Arizona is known for its extreme heat all year round, but did you know it can snow at the Grand Canyon? I drove up from Phoenix where it was 80 degrees, and was met with snow in early April.

  3. Bring snacks and water. This is especially important when you are hiking. There are places to eat in the park, but they can be expensive so plan accordingly.

  4. If you plan on going to more than one National Park during the year, then look into getting a season pass to save on entrance fees. Click here to learn more about the annual parks passes.

  5. Be prepared for a long drive, if you are not staying in the park. We drove almost 40 minutes to Grand Canyon National Park from our AirBnB in Williams, Arizona. There was nothing but cactus and desert in between these points. There was barely any roadside shops, and definitely not any hotels in between these two points.

These are my top five tips to consider when traveling to Grand Canyon National Park. I hope you found them helpful with planning your next trip.
